MINESH

Minesh is a 9-year old boy whose family emigrated from India in late 2015. Minesh was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma of the ribs and chest wall (cancer that forms in bones or in the soft tissue around bones) while living in India and received treatment there. In February 2016 Minesh began to experience pain, and tests showed that he relapsed. He was started on a new chemotherapy regimen but his response was not positive and the pain intensified, affecting his appetite and his ability to walk. He was then started on an experimental drug and within days began to feel better. He is being treated at the Children's Cancer Institute at the Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center. Minesh lives with his parents and older sister. Throughout his treatment, his mother has taken leave from her job to be with him, and the financial assistance from The Jillian Fund has enabled the family to make ends meet. Recently, Minesh had a CT scan which showed progression of disease. He is experiencing shortness of breath, has lost his appetite, and cannot ambulate. He is receiving hospice services at home. He is a very courageous boy. His family is very nurturing and supportive.
